LOCATION: Ido LGA (Ido, Apete, Awotan, Ologuneru, and Gbopa Communities) & Ibadan Northwest LGA (Eleyele, Onireke, Ekotedo, Jericho/Idito and Idikan)
With support from UNICEF Nigeria, Trailblazer Initiative Nigeria held a 2-day orientation/capacity building for representatives of 40 selected CBOs on conducting reflective dialogues and House-to-House advocacy/sensitization and mobilization of Movement for Good to end FGM pledges.
As result of these activities a total of 3,221 boys and men were reached and they are now actively participating in activities to promote positive masculinity and equitable gender norms and advocate for the elimination of FGM practice in dialogues/sessions with peers and others.
Community Facilitators from Community-Based Organizations (Youth-Led, Women-Led & Male-Led) held reflective dialogues on ending Female Genital Mutilation with Individuals, reflective dialogues with men & boys on positive masculinity to end Female Genital Mutilation and visit to households, especially where baby girls were born, to spread campaign messages and secure pledges to reach,
Community-Based Organizations to also conduct joint Advocacy visits to key stakeholders in the community on ending Female Genital Mutilation in the 10 intervention communities and LGA
As a result of this, a total of 9,658 people (women and girls, men and boys) were engaged through community platforms in reflective dialogue towards eliminating discriminatory social and gender norms and harmful practices that affect girls and women through UNICEF-supported programmes.
