- 2,093 U-reporters were enrolled by the 10 Youth Activists and TBI staff through advocacies, Sensitization programs, Reflective Dialogue sessions and other social media and Community engagements. The U-reporters are aware of their roles as advocate and Activists on the elimination of Female Genital Mutilation, Gender-based Violence, Violence against Women and Children and Child Marriage in their communities. This why they voluntarily enrolled on U-reporters in the first place. As Advocate/Activist they are also part of people/community-based organization currently conducting Household Advocacy and sensitization on the elimination of Female Genital Mutilation, Reflective Dialogues with groups and social media interventions.
- As result of Local Government Level Policy Advocacy dialogue/meetings with Parliamentarians (Local Government Ward Councillors), Religious Leaders (Christian, Muslims and Traditional Worshippers), Traditional Rulers (Traditional Council and Custodians of Culture), local authorities, other decision-makers and services on tackling challenges faced by girls in relation to Female Genital Mutilation, child marriage, Gender-based Violence, other harmful practices and Violence against Women and Children; LGA Councillors agreed to have budgetary allocation for Female Genital Mutilation, Gender-based Violence, and Child Marriage in the LGA annual budget. They also promised pass a bye-Law prohibiting Female Genital Mutilation in Ibarapa East LGAs, Ibarapa North LGA, and Kajola LGAs. As a result of the Policy advocacy, Ayete Community (in Ibarapa North LGA) and Ilero (in Kajola LGA) passed a community sanction for perpetrators of Female Genital Mutilation (25,000naira fine in Ayete while it is 50,000 in Ilero).
- Through the combine efforts of Youth Activists and Youth Community-Based Organizations in conducting House-to-House advocacy and sensitization and follow up visits to families who gave birth to girl child in the 6 focal communities, a total of 129 girls who would have been cut were rescued from being mutilated.
- Youth Activists and Youth Community-Based Organizations facilitated reflective dialogues on ending Female Genital Mutilation, child marriage, Gender-based Violence and Violence against Women and Children and other harmful practices that affect girls and women at the regular meeting of natural community groups (social, religious, business, cultural, etc) and promote M4Good and Community outreach meetings to sensitize the members of 100 groups per community x 2 communities x 3LGAs (600 groups in total) (schools, markets, worship centres, health facilities, local events, Female Genital Mutilation, child marriage, Gender-based Violence and Violence against Women and Children survivors etc) in their settings a total of 110,044 individuals (boys, girls, women &men) were reached by messaging on eliminating harmful practices, Female Genital Mutilation, child marriage, Gender-based Violence, Violence against Women and Children, women’s girls’ rights and gender equality in the 6 focal communities Eruwa & Lanlate (Ibarapa East), Ayete and Igangan (Ibarapa North) and Gbonje and Ilero (Kajola) LGAs
- Traditional and religious leaders, and other community influencers (M/F) in the 6 focal communities participated actively in community interventions, including Town Hall meetings, intergenerational, dialogue for the abandonment of Female Genital Mutilation and role in perpetuating gender inequality. These will further strengthen community member’s commitment towards elimination of Female Genital Mutilation
- 1,147,078 individuals (boys, girls, women and men) reached by social media messaging on eliminating harmful, Female Genital Mutilation, child marriage, Gender-based Violence, Violence against Women and Children, practices women’s girls’ rights and gender equality through the weekly social media conferences led by Youth Activists and weekly phone-in radio programme aired every Sunday between 4:30pm – 5pm on inspiration 100.5 FM Ibadan.
- As a result of our State-wide partnership with National Youth Council of Nigeria Oyo State Chapter, 1,477,846 individuals joined the movement for good to end Female Genital Mutilation and promote Female Genital Mutilation elimination in Nigeria and documented on the M4Good website
- In a bid to proffer solutions to the challenges hindering implementation and operationalization of the Oyo State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law 2020 the Trailblazer Initiative Nigeria with support from UNICEF Nigeria held a 1-Day State Level – Policy Advocacy Dialogue with Parliamentarians, Government Officials, Academia, And Services Providers on Tackling Female Genital Mutilation (Female Genital Mutilation), Child Marriage, and Other forms of Gender-Based Violence, at Ibadan Business School, Ibadan on Thursday, 27th July 2023. The programme was well attended by the Legislators, Government Officials and Service providers. During the Policy dialogue with members of the 10th Assembly, which sensitized members on the scale of Female Genital Mutilation practice in the state, the Hon. Speaker ably represented by his Deputy Mohammed Fadare committed to;
- make Female Genital Mutilation prevention and response a key strategic agenda and pursue an aggressive campaign on the M4Good to be led by the respective members in all the 32 constituencies in the state.
- Allocate budgets for State Technical Committee/Local Technical Committee on Female Genital Mutilation and data generation
- Provide oversight through its Parliamentary committees on women and health for effective and judicious utilization of funds.
