Empowering Youth for a Sustainable Future
Ibadan, Nigeria – August 12, 2024: As the world celebrates International Youth Day 2024, Trailblazer Initiative Nigeria (TBI) reaffirms its commitment to empowering Nigerian youth through education, vocational training, and community development programs. This year’s theme, “Youth for a Sustainable Future,” resonates deeply with our mission to equip young people with the skills and opportunities needed to drive positive change in their communities and beyond.
At TBI, we believe that the youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also the change-makers of today. Our programs, which include vocational empowerment in tailoring, graphics design, web development, and more, are designed to provide young Nigerians with the tools they need to create sustainable livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to society.
Empowering Youth through Vocational Training
Over the past year, TBI has expanded its vocational training programs, reaching over 1,000 young people across Nigeria. These programs focus on high-demand skills such as bag making, hairdressing, liquid soap production, and digital skills like web design. By providing access to quality training and mentorship, we aim to reduce unemployment and poverty among Nigerian youth, fostering a generation of self-reliant entrepreneurs.
Youth-Led Community Development
In line with this year’s theme, TBI has also launched several youth-led community development projects. These initiatives focus on elimination of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), improving Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) in underserved communities, promoting health and well-being, and encouraging environmental sustainability. We are proud to see young people at the forefront of these efforts, demonstrating their capacity to lead and innovate.
Engaging Youth in the Fight Against Gender-Based Violence
TBI recognizes the critical role that youth play in addressing social issues, including gender-based violence (GBV). Through our awareness campaigns and workshops, we have engaged thousands of young people in conversations about the impact of social norms on GBV and the importance of creating safe spaces for all. Our goal is to empower youth to be advocates for change, challenging harmful practices and promoting gender equality.
