In commemoration of the International Day of Education 2025, Trailblazer Initiative Nigeria hosted a thought-provoking debate competition at Army Barracks Secondary School, Iwo Road, Ibadan, on Friday, January 24th, 2025. The event marked the final phase of a three-school debate series organized by the NGO to highlight the day’s theme, “AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation.”
The debate topic, “Artificial Intelligence Can Effectively Replace Human Teachers in Education,” brought together brilliant young minds who passionately argued for and against the motion. After an intense and engaging session, the team opposing the motion emerged victorious, presenting compelling arguments on the irreplaceable role of human teachers in fostering emotional connections, mentorship, and holistic education.
The event featured Mr. Adekunle Adetiloye of Iteration Technologies as the guest judge. His insightful comments added immense value to the debate. He commended the students for their outstanding performances and charged them to remain of good character while striving for excellence in their academic and personal lives.
The TBI team expressed gratitude to the principal, staff, and students of Army Barracks Secondary School for their warm reception and active participation. The principal’s commitment to fostering quality education and her team’s collaboration greatly contributed to the event’s success.
This debate competition is part of Trailblazer Initiative Nigeria’s efforts to empower students with critical thinking skills, spark meaningful conversations about technological advancements, and inspire them to shape the future of education.
