In commemoration of the International Day of Education 2025, the Trailblazer Initiative Nigeria organized a vibrant debate competition at Community Grammar School, Iwo Road, Ibadan, on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
The event, themed around this year’s focus, “AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation,” explored the thought-provoking topic: “Artificial Intelligence Can Effectively Replace Human Teachers in Education.”
The competition saw passionate arguments from both the proposing and opposing teams. After an intense exchange of ideas and perspectives, the opposing team emerged victorious, impressing the judges and audience with their well-researched points and articulate delivery.
A highlight of the event was the stellar performance by the school’s cultural dance troupe, which captivated everyone with their energy and creativity. Recognizing their talent, the Executive Director of Trailblazer Initiative Nigeria, Dr. Dare Olagoke-Adaramoye, made a token donation to support the troupe’s costumes, further encouraging cultural expression in the school.
The event also drew commendations for the Principal and staff of Community Grammar School, whose dedication to the students’ growth and learning was evident in the seamless organization and enthusiasm displayed throughout the program.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Olagoke-Adaramoye emphasized the importance of fostering critical thinking and creativity in education. He applauded the students for their brilliant participation and reaffirmed TBI’s commitment to empowering young minds and promoting quality education.
