Trailblazer Initiative Nigeria (TBI) commenced its 2026 Annual Staff Retreat earlier this week, bringing together staff and leadership for a multi-day, intensive learning and reflection process aimed at strengthening institutional capacity, teamwork, and strategic direction. The retreat, which runs until Friday, serves as a critical platform for aligning the organization’s vision, improving staff wellbeing, and preparing the team for effective delivery of its 2026 work plan.
The retreat opened with sessions focused on organizational direction, internal alignment, and shared understanding of roles and expectations. Staff engaged in reflective discussions on Trailblazer Initiative’s mission, values, and strategic priorities, reinforcing a collective commitment to professionalism, accountability, and impact-driven programming.
Leadership sessions emphasized the importance of teamwork, clarity of roles, and institutional coherence as the organization continues to expand its work in health, gender justice, child protection, and community development. The day laid a strong foundation for collaboration, trust, and open dialogue throughout the retreat.
Day Two centered on capacity strengthening and organizational sustainability, equipping staff with practical tools to improve performance and resilience facilitated by Mr. Femi John Olla, Executive Director, ActHub for Sustainable Development Foundation. Sessions addressed key areas such as grant development, institutional systems, and staff wellbeing, with particular attention to managing workload pressures and preventing burnout.
Participants actively engaged in discussions on stress management, productivity, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance within the nonprofit sector. These conversations underscored Trailblazer Initiative’s commitment not only to results, but also to the wellbeing of its team as a core driver of long-term impact.
The third day of the retreat was marked by high-impact sessions facilitated by Dr. Adekunle Adetiloye, CEO of Iteration Technologies, who served as the Day 3 facilitator.
Dr. Adetiloye led an interactive and deeply engaging session on building a positive mindset and reinforcement, challenging participants to adopt growth-oriented thinking, emotional intelligence, and ethical leadership in their daily work. His facilitation combined practical insights with reflective exercises that resonated strongly with staff.
Key Day 3 sessions included:
- Team Bonding and Understanding Roles
- Writing Winning Grant Proposals
- Preventing Burnout and Stress Management
- Interactive Session on Building Positive Mindset and Reinforcement
- Time Management for Productivity
- Navigating the New Tax Regime: Financial Intelligence for the Current Context

A major highlight of the day was the presentation of Trailblazer Initiative Nigeria’s finalized 2025 Annual Report and the approved 2026 Work Plan, providing staff with a clear roadmap for the year ahead. These sessions reinforced transparency, shared ownership, and accountability across the organization.
The Executive Director, Dr. Dare Olagoke-Adaramoye, also led strategic discussions on financial intelligence, governance, and institutional responsibility, further strengthening staff understanding of the broader operating environment for civil society organizations in Nigeria.
As the retreat progresses toward its conclusion, the 2026 Annual Staff Retreat has proven to be a valuable investment in people, systems, and organizational vision. Through thoughtful facilitation, open dialogue, and skills-based learning, Trailblazer Initiative Nigeria continues to demonstrate its commitment to building a resilient, ethical, and high-performing team.
The organization extends its appreciation to all facilitators and staff who have contributed to the success of the retreat, particularly Dr. Dare Olagoke-Adaramoye for his leadership and guidance.
With renewed energy, shared purpose, and a clear strategic direction, Trailblazer Initiative Nigeria is well positioned to deliver meaningful impact in 2026 and beyond.
