3-day training workshop to empower 150 adolescent girls selected from Girl’s clubs

Trailblazer Initiative Nigeria’s staff supported the trained 20 Community Facilitators to conduct a 3-day training workshop to empower 150 adolescent girls (15 adolescent girls per community selected from Girl’s clubs x 10 communities) as gender champions and subsequent peer-to-peer session by the Gender Champions on the elimination of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in their various communities

Each of the empowered 150 peers held 8 peer-to-peer sessions (twice a week for 4 weeks) for 12 girls each= 150GCs x 12peers = 1800) + 150 trained Gender champions. These 1,950 women and girls have initiated conversations on FGM elimination and/or advocated for abandonment of the practice

They are conducting 50 Advocacy Visits to community stakeholders by 150 AGC’s/Girl’s Clubs (15 girls conduct 5 visits per community)

1,950 Adolescents have also scale up sensitization to at least 3,900 female members of their immediate families and they are identifying and reporting FGM cases to their community leaders

LOCATION: Ido LGA (Ido, Apete, Awotan, Ologuneru, and Gbopa Communities) & Ibadan Northwest LGA (Eleyele, Onireke, Ekotedo, Jericho/Idito and Idikan)
