To mark Menstrual Hygiene Day, Trailblazer Initiative Nigeria was at Pegba Community Secondary School, Ibadan, for an impactful orientation and sensitization session on menstrual hygiene management.
Our team engaged the students in a practical session where we addressed menstrual health, debunked common myths, demonstrated how to use sanitary pads properly, and discussed how to maintain hygiene during menstruation. We emphasized that menstruation is natural—not a taboo—and should be treated with dignity and understanding.
One of the highlights of the day was a short but powerful playlet presented by the students themselves. The drama was engaging, informative, and creatively conveyed key menstrual hygiene messages to their peers. It was inspiring to see students taking the lead in educating one another, boosting awareness and confidence around menstrual health.
To support these girls, we distributed free sanitary pads, generously donated by kind-hearted individuals. This gesture aims to help girls manage their periods confidently and stay in school.
Access to menstrual hygiene education and materials is still a struggle for many girls in underserved communities. Through this intervention, we are not just promoting hygiene—we’re advancing dignity, health, and equal opportunity for adolescent girls.
Special thanks to Olori Opeyemi Adenrele for making this happen, Management and Staff of Community Secndary School Pegba, our donors and volunteers for making this possible.
Let’s continue to break the silence and end period stigma together.
