Call for Proposal: Grant to Strengthen Acess to Justice for Migrants in West Africa

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is pleased to announce the launch of its call for proposals for the award of grants aimed at promoting and protecting the human rights of migrants in Africa of the West by improving their access to justice.

 

Under the joint PROMIS project between OHCHR and UNODC, funded by the Netherlands, these grants will be awarded to civil society organizations (CSOs), law firms, and national human rights institutions (NHRIs) who provide legal assistance to migrants in one – or more – of the eight project countries (Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Mali, Niger, Chad, Burkina Faso, Nigeria or Senegal).

 

  • Eligibility
  • To be eligible, organizations applying for the grant must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a civil society organization, law firm, or national human rights institution man legally incorporated and registered for at least one year;
  • Work and be based in one of the following countries: Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Mali, Niger, Chad, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, or Senegal
  • Have in their mandate the assistance to migrants, the protection of the rights of migrants, and/or the promotion of access to justice for migrants in the country concerned, as well as being already engaged in one or more activities of which the subject of this call for applications.
